2 Corinthians 4:7

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not us.”

Terracotta, or “baked earth”, is easily recognized as the red-orange clay that is common among plant pots and old pottery. The idea of people, for thousands of years, taking clay from the earth and turning it to something beautiful and meaningful; the idea of that medium being used in so many different cultures all throughout history – how beautiful is that? Then take one of the most precious things from the Earth, a flower, and put it in this amazing pot to share it with a friend or family member or even a stranger. That is love.

This verse is saying that though we are fragile beings, able to be crushed, we are never broken because we all have the light of the Lord within us. With Jesus, though we might be struck down, we are never destroyed. The most beautiful thing about terracotta is that even if it is crushed into the finest powder, it is still not destroyed. Just adding water will turn it back into clay and you can start again.

The goal of Terracotta Floral is to share the love that we have because he first loved us (1 John 4:19). With each floral arrangement there is a prayer and a living hope that this gift would bring the joy and love of Jesus in to every heart.

*Please note that Terracotta is a Christian company, which means we are dedicated to sharing God’s love with each and every person. We are called to love one another as God loves us (John 15:12-13), which means without hesitation or prejudice.
